Eleven years ago, Portland, Oregon was a sleepy burg, andMusicfestNW was little more than a hope and a prayer—a hope of putting on a music festival that matched the outsized ambitions of the alt-weekly that founded it and a prayer that the wheels wouldn’t fall off. Today, Portland is one of the most exciting cities on the globe. And MusicfestNW has become the third largest indoor music festival in the United States.
In 2010 MFNW showcased more than 170 bands across 18 venues including the brand new outdoor venue, Levi’s Pioneer Stage at Pioneer Courthouse Square. More than 20,000 fans danced and sweated to performances by The National,The Decemberists, Major Lazer, Panda Bear, Okkervil River, Wiz Khalifa, The Smashing Pumpkins and Black Lips.
In 2011, MFNW will be taking over the city. Among other things, we’ll be adding a third night at Pioneer Courthouse Square and much, much more. See you September 7th through September 11th. |
